Beef Bone Broth

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 hours
Total Time 10 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • Water
  • Beef Marrow Bones
  • Stew Beef
  • 2 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 Garlic Bulb cut in half

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In an oven safe pot or baking pan, coat the bottom with a drizzle of olive oil. Place the beef marrow bones, stew beef, and the halved garlic bulb on the sheet.
  • Place in the oven for 30 minutes, on middle rack.
  • After 30 minutes, remove from oven and place the contents into a large pot. Add in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. This helps extract more nutrients and minerals from the bones. Fill pot with cold water. Let sit for 20-30 minutes in the cold water.
  • After waiting, turn the heat on medium-low. You'll want to simmer the broth, maintaining a really slow boil. You don't want a hard boil. Add in black pepper and salt, to taste.
  • Cook the broth for at least 8 hours. During the cooking process, if any scum or dark deposits float to the top, you can discard these. Cooking longer is actually better, cook as long as possible. May need to use a lid to prevent the broth from evaporating.
  • During the last 2 hours, if you have any fresh vegetables laying around, you can add them in for extra vitamins and minerals, and flavor! Be sure to wash them, and peel them if needed.
  • After cooking for at least 8 hours, let the pot cool off. After cooling off, strain the contents and place into jars or glass containers. Store the beef bone broth in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • I like to warm up a cup every day to sip, or you can use the bone broth in other recipes; such as rice, other soups and many other recipes.
